Physiatry (physical and rehabilitation medicine)

Physiatry (physical medicine) is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of various diseases and injuries, including neurological, musculoskeletal, pulmonary and other conditions - from arthritis, back pain, dislocated joints to the rehabilitation of patients with cancer, brain injuries, amputations, etc.

When to visit a physiatrist?

After injuries (sprains, fractures, strains)

For sciatica, herniated disc or muscle weakness

After operations (orthopedic, neurosurgical, abdominal) for rehabilitation

In rheumatic diseases (arthritis, spondylosis, fibromyalgia)

For postural problems, deformities or reduced mobility

In case of neurological damage (stroke, neuropathies)

A physiatrist’s examination includes a clinical assessment of the musculoskeletal system, analysis of pain and functional limitations, and the creation of an individualized physical therapy and rehabilitation plan.

Depending on the diagnosis, various treatment methods are used, including electrotherapy, ultrasound, magnetotherapy, therapeutic exercises, manual therapy and massage, and kinesitherapy.

At our polyclinic, you can undergo:

Shockwave therapy

SHOCK WAVE is a non-invasive therapeutic method for pain relief in which the acoustic wave produces extremely high output energy and thus serves as a fast, precise and highly effective method of treating localized musculoskeletal pathologies such as:

-calcify shoulders, hips and knees

-heel thorn

-tennis elbow

-frozen shoulder

-lower back pain

-arthritic changes-secondary symptoms

Shock wave therapy relieves pain and restores joint functionality, increases range of motion and stimulates muscles.
